It takes a skilled designer to infuse a space with coastal charm when it’s nowhere near the ocean. In Laval, Quebec, Canada, designer Niki Panagiotopoulos helped her client do just that in this beautiful bathroom project.
Niki, who owns Wish Decor Interior Design, incorporated her client’s love of the ocean through warm woods and vivid blue tones, creating an “elevated, calm, and serene” atmosphere.
As an ensuite bathroom, the space was designed to flow seamlessly into the master bedroom, with both spaces sharing colors, ambiance, and overall style.
A Peek Inside…
From the bedroom, we get a serene view of the bathroom’s bright, inviting interior. The brightness spills into the bedroom, where white walls are paired with blue and neutral decor for a soft, serene feel.
Beside the bathroom entrance and neatly tucked in a corner is a black desk, whose dark tone adds a sense of drama and eye-catching contrast against the light backdrop of the wall.
This corner makes beautiful use of ocean-inspired textures with fluted details lining the front of the desk, delicate floral arrangements, and seashell-inspired wall hangings.
Decorative gold accents dot the desktop, elevating this corner through sophisticated details and sun-like glimmer.
The Vanity
As we enter the bathroom, we’re welcomed with this stunning view. Nestled snuggly between walls is a white oak vanity with subtle tonal variations, adding depth among crisp white countertops, walls, and (heated) flooring.
The vanity’s warm tones immediately bring a sense of comfort upon entry, and was custom made to “maximize its size in this small bathroom,” says Niki.
Gold hardware is complemented by a mix of various metals used throughout the room, a conscious choice in order to add visual intrigue.
Throughout this space, you’ll find gentle curvatures offering a friendly feel and clean aesthetic. The arched mirrors are a perfect example, along with the vanity lights, flower vase, and towel ring.
The Shower
In the shower, a blue tile accent wall demands attention as the heart and soul of the bathroom’s coastal inspiration. The tile, laid in a detailed herringbone pattern, features a rich blue that pops beautifully against the room’s prominent neutrals.
Classic white marble flows from floor to wall for a sleek, modern feel alongside a glass shower door.

The Cabinetry
Here, we get tall cabinetry with built-in shelving, made of the same beautiful white oak as the vanity. Gold knobs tie in with hardware throughout the bathroom, as does a framed photo neatly filling the space above the toilet.
The space culminates in this corner, which maintains a clean, minimal appearance and refreshing ambiance akin to a breezy coastline.
